TIPS FOR CREATING A SUCCESSFUL RECEPTION AREA:

Imagine yourself being a new visitor in an office for the first time.  What impression do you have of the reception area?  Is it clean and welcoming, or is it outdated and confined?  Creating a first impression with new clients is a very important step in promoting your business, and to create a positive work environment for your employees.  Your reception area is your first point of contact with your customers.  We've all heard the saying that first impressions last, and this is all too true when it comes to your reception area. Here are important things to consider when you are in the early stages of designing and planning:

PICK A UNIQUE RECEPTION DESK THAT WILL MAKE A STATEMENT

Having a reception desk that stands out,  as well ashaving something that people cannot help but notice, will help promotethe inviting atmosphere of your reception area.   Keep in mind that your clients will approach this unique furniture piecewhen they first arrive into your reception area, and when they have questions about your business and the services you offer.  Making sure to choose a desk that stands out from any of your typical reception desks, will ensure an appealing, attractive and welcoming  area for your guests and clients to walk into.

MAKE YOUR CLIENTS FEEL COMFORTABLE;PROVIDE  A DISTRACTION

Ask anyone, and I'm sure waiting is not at the top of their list as their favorite thing to do.   That is why you should make sure to provide entertainment for your clients while they are waiting.  This could include a television, free Wi-Fi, or something as simple as a magazine or book.  Refreshments such as water, coffee, or tea are also a nice touch.  This will help ease restlessness and anxiety, and make your guests feel more comfortable and at home.

MAKE  YOUR  COMPANY  CULTURE  STAND  OUT

Every company has an identity that is unique and exclusive only to them.  Why not make that company culture stand out to your new clients and visitors?  Take for example what companies like Google and Skype did in these entrance photos collected by Office Snapshots.

These are just a few introductory tips to help create a reception area that will make a good first impression.  However you decide to design your reception area;make sure that it fits the needs of your clients, employees, and is in line with your company culture.
